The perfect holiday gift for someone who loves to cook and explore new cuisines. Or a lovely treat for yourself! You will learn how to make a basic sambal (the star of any Malaysian kitchen) and how to use chillies, lemongrass, coconut milk etc. the proper way. We'll discuss and prep the ingredients and cook the meal together, then gather around the table in my dining room to enjoy this very tasty, exotic meal.

Dec 8th,  2pm - 5pm
Location:  Ditmas Park (exact location will be emailed to you after you have registered)
Shrimp Sambal - Succulent shrimp cooked in traditional South-East Asian spices and aromatics.  A very simple yet delicious dish that you will be able to re-create at home with ease.

Spiced Ghee Rice - Basmati rice cooked with clarified butter, cardamom, cinnamon and cloves. A wonderful side to the spicy shrimp.

Blanched Baby Bok Choy with Garlic Oil -
We will cover a very basic Chinese-style preparation of vegetables using either baby bok choy or mini bok choy, whichever looks freshest at the market that morning.  Pictured here are the mini bok choy.

Lepat Pisang - a traditional Malay dessert.  Banana pudding with date palm sugar, wrapped in banana leaves and steamed. Dairy- and nut-free. We'll mix up the ingredients and learn how to wrap the delicate banana leaf packages. Lots of fun!

Cooking Class Parties
Tired of the usual birthday party activities?  Who wants to go bowling again?  And ping pong is so 2010!  Get your friends together for a cooking class party!  Celebrate any occasion with something slightly different or surprise a loved one who loves to cook.  Some of my fondest childhood memories are of my mum and all my aunties (mum had three sisters, two sisters-in-law and a crowd of cousins!) cooking in the kitchen together.  So much goes on in the kitchen beyond just the cooking.  The chit-chat and competitiveness can get really entertaining.  To this day,  I love being in the kitchen with friends and family - talking about anything and everything, and cooking a brilliant meal together!
Menus are designed to be completed in two to two and a half hours.  Parties can be held at your place or mine.  Either way,  you're in for a fun and educational cooking experience with me followed by a delicious dinner.  Each guest will leave with a recipe packet for the dishes we cooked and great memories of a fun evening hosted by you!  Get your kids in the kitchen early and encourage them to explore diverse cuisines.  Children over age 10 may be included in your party.  Email me at auriasmalaysiankitchen@gmail.com to discuss rates, dates and a menu.

  3. It is really true that food is the back bone of any kind of parties. Whenever I have to throw any party I love cooking all the party food at home and for that I look for online cooking classes for learning new dishes. All my guests appreciate my party food.
